The objective: to support the analysis of a consumer test on an innovative pet product, using a rigorous statistical approach. An exciting project combining precise analytical methods with demanding fieldwork requirements to transform raw data into directly usable results.
A rich, progressive and demanding field survey
The system set up by IMASENS was particularly structured and was part of a qualitative and longitudinal approach. It was based on several phases of questionnaires: an initial recruitment form to ensure the representativeness of the panel, followed by an initial questionnaire before any use of the product. Then, over the weeks of use, participants were invited to share their feedback on a regular basis. The study ended with a comprehensive review questionnaire to measure changes in product perception.
This type of multi-phase approach is very effective for capturing changes in usage and feelings. However, it requires significant methodological rigour in the structuring and processing of data. It was in this context that IMASENS called on Inflow‘s expertise, with the task of cleaning, organising, analysing and reporting on this data in order to extract a reliable and clear summary.
Data preparation, structuring and validation: the foundations of any reliable analysis
Before diving into statistical analysis, Inflow focused its efforts on the quality of the data collected. This is because a poorly structured database, however rich it may be, risks producing erroneous conclusions. Each questionnaire was carefully checked, responses were standardised, and any inconsistencies or outliers were identified using exploratory data analysis (EDA) techniques.
Structuring the data also made it possible to align the different phases of the questionnaire with each other, enabling smooth tracking of respondents over time.
Advanced statistical methods to reveal weak signals
Once the data had been cleaned and organised, the core of the mission could begin: extracting concrete insights from the analysis of user behaviour and feelings. Here, Inflow’s expertise in applied statistics played a fundamental role.
Far from being limited to simple descriptive statistics (averages, percentages or medians), the analysis aimed to highlight significant links between certain variables. To do this, statistical tests such as Chi-square and ANOVA were used. Chi-square, for example, was used to detect correlations between certain socio-demographic characteristics (size and age of the animal) and levels of satisfaction or product usage. ANOVA was used to compare changes in responses over time between different groups of participants.
This work makes it possible to identify typical user profiles, understand which segments are most receptive to the product being tested, and under what conditions its use is most optimal. This is valuable information for IMASENS, which can thus make informed recommendations to its clients, based on solid empirical evidence.
Visual and operational reporting: the Inflow signature
Once the analyses had been carried out, all that remained was to present the results. But here again, a 40-page black and white report was out of the question. The value of a study also lies in its ability to be intelligently popularised. That is why Inflow designed a series of visual presentations: simplified graphs, summary tables, trend curves, etc. All in a format that could be used directly by the IMASENS teams.
The aim was clear: to enable the institute to take ownership of the key elements and integrate them into its client presentations. Care was also taken in the presentation of the results, to facilitate interpretation without statistical jargon, while maintaining a high level of scientific rigour.
A mission that perfectly illustrates Inflow’s DNA
This collaboration with IMASENS perfectly reflects the way Inflow sees its role: as a strategic partner, capable of going far beyond raw analysis. Each project is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in a particular universe – in this case, animal feed – and to mobilise best data practices to produce concrete answers to client challenges.
At Inflow, we are convinced that the quality of analysis depends as much on methodology as on understanding the context. It is this dual expertise – technical and sector-specific – that enables us to transform individual responses into genuine collective insights.
In this mission carried out alongside IMASENS, Inflow demonstrated the added value of a rigorous yet human approach to data, serving a project with high consumer stakes. Cleaning, processing, analysis, visualisation: each step was designed to give value to the respondents’ voices and help the client make informed decisions.
What if your data could also tell you more than you think? At Inflow, we make the numbers speak to reveal what they have to say to you.
